2006 Brinkley

Brinkley Brinkley is an (estimated) one year old black fellow who was turned into rescue at Greater Dayton Labrador Retriever Rescue after he was taken in by a good samaritan when he showed up at her home injured and hungrey. She had tried contacting local shelters and vets but had been informed tha the would be put to sleep... rather then have that happen she contacted rescue to see if they could help. He was taken to the vet by the rescue where the vet figured he had been hit by a car - his left rear leg was severely broken leaving amputation as the only real option. A couple of the xrays taken of his leg are at the bottom of this page, showing just how serious a fracture this was... Regardless of his pain and the condition of his leg, Brinkley (as is so often the case with our wonderful breed) continued to offer kisses and ask to be petted.

Brinkley had his surgery - although he did have to return to the vet to have his sutures replaced when he took them out early! We also have, from the rescue, the following update:
"Wonderful News. FYI – Brinkley was adopted on 8-19-06, by a great family. They had lost their dog a few months back and he was also 3 legged. They didn’t mind the few challenges ahead and were so happy with him. Thanks so much for helping."
and thank you all from the board of Labrador Life Line for helping us to help Brinkley!
