Beware of Pupaazzi!

Hi Everyone!

For this blog, I want to talk to you about a strange occurrence that seems to come about this time of year. No, it is not the rites of spring or anything like that, but something I like to refer to as the “Return of the Puparazzi.”

For young pups (those 12 months and younger) you may have never encountered the “Puparazzi” before. In simplest terms, it is your human parent(s) putting a square-shaped box to their eye, aiming it right at you, and instructing you to “look cute and to look at mommy/daddy.” It is followed with a “click” like noise and sometimes, but not always, a blinding (though temporary) bright light.

Sightings of the puparazzi seem to increase during this time of year (but don’t be fooled, a sighting can occur at any time of the year.) Here is one thing you must never, ever, forget –being “cute” has a price and make sure you collect (whether it is a snack, bone, squeaky toy–you name it.) You earned it.

For some reason, these sightings seem to occur around the same time as the Labrador Life Line’s annual Cyber Dog Show. The last time I checked the Cyber Dog Show started on Friday and ends on June 15th–plenty of opportunities for the Puparazzi to strike–so be on your guard these next couple of weeks.

Until the next time….

Ginger

Happy Birthday Bailey!

Did you know….eighty percent of dog owners buy their dog a present for holidays and birthdays? If that’s still not enough, according to the National Pet Owners Survey, 9% of dog owners throw a birthday party for their dog.

Surprised? I admit it, at first I was a little shocked at how high the percentages were until I started thinking. The majority of dog owners (me included) don’t really think of their dog as a pet, but rather, as their “four-legged” family member. How many of you remember your dog’s birthday and forget your spouse’s?

Need help planning your dog’s birthday party? Check out Dogs Have Birthdays Too!

From sending out the invitations to planning the party menu, the web site covers everything you need to know on how to throw your furry family member the ultimate birthday bash.

So, how about you? Do you buy birthday presents and/or cards for your dog? Would you, or have you, thrown them a party to celebrate their special day? Share with us on how you celebrate your dog’s special day.

Until the next time…

Wendy

2011 Best In Show Winner

Attention all Lab owners it’s time to “snap to it.”

The annual Labrador Life Line Cyber Dog Show begins May 25th and runs through June 15th.
This highly anticipated event and fundraiser is fun for everyone– supporters and members of Labrador Life Line alike. The event allows Lab owners (and non-Lab owners) to capture their precious Labs and pooches at their best (or worst.)

A couple of years ago, the Cyber Dog Show had a record number of entries–over 200 photos! We know that we can even do better this year, but we can’t do it alone.

We need you and your pictures to make it possible.

New to this year’s show… photos entered in the Labrador Life Line Cyber Dog Show will also be considered for inclusion in Labrador Life Line’s 2013 calendar. Calendar pictures will be chosen based on those that best represent each month … the more you enter the better chance your picture will have of being selected! Please note–special rules and restrictions apply.

For more information and how to enter your photogenic Lab in Labrador Life Line’s Cyber Dog Show, click HERE.

Now start snapping!!

Did you know…that CBS is going to the dogs?

Debuting later this month, the new reality show Dogs in the City premieres at 8 p.m. on Wednesday May 30th. The unscripted series features New York dog whisperer Justin Silver and his attempts to help real-life dog owners with their doggy dilemmas.

The producers say the troubled pups will be the heart and soul of show.

The series had me thinking about the neurotic behavior my two Labs Ginger and Shadow displayed over the years. Can’t wait for the series to air? Why not share with us the neurotic behavior your Lab displays. How do you, or did you, deal with it? Would you ever call a dog whisperer like Justin to help you resolve it?

Until next the next time.

Wendy
